gwanak ecc, near seoul national university/bongchon station??
If so, I used to work there and its a sweet gig. the hours are good, the director is fair and fairly relaxed, and the pay is always on time.
You will have to do kindergarten, which isn't everyones idea of fun, but apart from that i'd recommend the place. |

I used to work there too. If it's the same place mr moonhead is on about.
Not too bad. I hate taching kindergarten with the crying kids.
The owner Mr Oh is OK and did do the right thing by always paying on time and taking his staff out for dinner on occasions such as leaving and coming events.
Plato, Is the head teacher Gina? she was pretty nice as a coworker, don't know how she is as a supervisor though, her English is pretty good.
If it is the same place here is my rundown.
Be prepared for lots of hours, try and negotiate low hours per month or a higher overtime rate. I was working a lot and it was exhausting, the extra money was nice though.
The apt was crappy, have a look at the housing before you commit.
The people I worked with were generally great, I met some cool people there that I'm still in touch with. One guy was a contender for the freakiest weygookin thread but they sacked him.
The location is pretty good, it is close to Sadang station which is a really good station for getting anywhere in Seoul.
Gwanaksan is a great mountain, a good place to get some nice clean air in your lungs.
The local market in Nakseongdae has some great bargains and the food is pretty fresh.
All in all I had a good time there but beware of typical hogwan shennanigans regarding general cheekiness and penny pinching. Not the best job I've had in Korea but certainly not the worst.
Talk to the current teachers and get their take on it. Crap schools can become good and vice versa. |
