It has been mentioned on here in the following thread:

Also, I have heard of another teacher who encountered this problem. If you use DHL to deliver your transcripts, they will likely be opened by DHL, rendering them void in immigration's eyes. Use FEDEX as your courier service, if possible. |

DHL suck.
When i was in the process of coming over to Korea, I said on the phone to the agent "the transcripts must be unopened". he said "we open everything". obviously DHL have never heard of X-rays. I said "oh well, I guess that's the end of the transaction" and he was like "yeah, I guess so".
Useless bstds.
they also totally messed up the delivery of my visa confirmation letter from Korean Immigration!
Use Fedex for everything, always, I say! |

I use DHL all the time and they never open anything of mine. On the other hand, I now never use FEDEX in Korea because they have opnened transcripts that were sent to me twice.
I've never had a problem with DHL opening things but I have had problems with FEDEX opening things. |

Had pretty much the same experience. I use DHL all the time now.
Roll of the dice I guess. |

| From the UK to Gwangju UPS was much cheaper than Fedex and they didn't open the transcripts. Fedex said the delivery would take one week, UPS were 4 days. Use UPS! |

I got mine via regular old USPS and the Korean Mail system. Took about 9 days, no exta fee, and no getting them opened. No problems there. Of course, this is only really an option if you plan in advance.

Yeah, that's what FEDEX did or I should say the delivery guy for FEDEX did.
He said he couldn't read the address on the front of the FEDEX package (a blind man could have read it) so he opened it and couldn't find the address so he then opened the transcripts inside.
That was his excuse. The real problem was that he couldn't read English but he wouldn't admit to that (that would mean a lose of face).
When I contacted the office for FEDEX in Korea to complain that basically didn't give a sh*t, made up more excuses and gave me the run around. When I contacted the office in the States and told them what happened they were mighty p*ssed, gave a full refund and offered to send the next package for free. |

| Its happening going the other way too. My SO just sent some sealed reference letters for an alternative cert program in the states via FedEX and they arrived opened with a customs letter attached saying they were opened for US customs purposes. The school district is now in the process of determining if they will still accept them, otherwise it may of cost her a chance at a job |

One of my freespeaking students is a big-wig for DHL. I'll have to ask him about this on Monday. |
