I just finished watching the most biased piece of crap I've ever seen.

It showed every single yellow and red card Italy got. It showed none that Korea got.

It showed many Korean players tumbling as if they have 2 left feet.

It showed many near misses on the Italian goal.

It showed the cheering crowd of Italy while they were winning, and the dejected crowd after they lost.

It showed the Korean crowd cheering constantly.

It showed that fluke goal off that one guys head, while he was dragging an Italian by the jersey. No penalty on that one, though.

This begs these questions:

1. Did Korea get no yellow or red cards during the whole game?

2. Are Korean players really that clumsy?

3. Did the Korean fans never get quiet and depressed when it seemed they were going to be eliminated?

4. Did Italy not have many near misses too?

You forgot to mention the Vieri goal that was taken away for being offsides, which in reality he would have been had he been behind the goalie.
So, the true score of the game should have been Italy 2 Korea 1

Though the Korean national team has a few of good players, that won't help the team get as far as it did in 2002.

Italy tried to bully Korea off the ball in that game, and when the plucky, smaller Koreans stood thier ground the snotty Italians got nasty, they were luck not to be penalised more for crude tackles. Korea won that game fair and square, and I rejoice that those arrogant sissy boys took it so hard.

k-team playing Angola now~

Nutty k-fans gathering in front of City Hall in Seoul. Deja vu all over again. My two women and I sitting in front of tv having pizza and beer watching the nuttiness. Gotta respect football nuts. How much does Manchester United pay Ji-sun Park? Anyone know?

Ilsanman,

A few questions for you:

Who produced the video or replay of the game?

Who was their target audience?

That should pretty much explain the orientation of the program....

If it was produced locally for a Korean audience then it is expected (dare I say normal) that they focus on the Korean team and its fans....what did you expect?

This is sports...i.e. fan based which implies a bias.

If I watch a show about the Habs (montreal hockey team) run for the 1993 Stanley cup...produced locally (In montreal) what do you think they will focus on? The other teams and its fans?

As for the game itself, despite a couple of strange calls (but, if you are a football fan you must realize that bad or strange calls are par for the course in World Cup play) it was Italy's game to lose and they lost it on their own account.

They had numerous chances of scoring and putting the Korean team away but botched several scoring chances (ex: Vieri alone on the goalie and he misses the net...Baggio anyone?). Basically, the Italians scored and then sat on the lead and let Korea come at them. They also played mammamia opera football with numerous dives and drama queen acts.

By all means they should have won based on talent alone. But, they lost their composure and got a yellow card they deserved. By all logic they should have pulverised the Korean team, had they played instead of sitting on the lead. These things happen in sport, look at how Senegal romped through the tournament. Heck they beat France in their opening game!

As for Italy, this was not their first choke job..again..Baggio 1994 anyone?

yeah, but that SAME target audience goes ape when other nationalities attempt to spin international events in THEIR favor.

in the west, biases in international sporting events are miniscule, unoticeable. networks would lose their credibility.

so, yes, i am suprised that flagrant biases have existed here for so long, yet those same people will not tolerate the same from the outrside.

It is my proposal that a football/soccer league be created where there are no fouls or penalties. Thus, no b!tching or whining about the officiating can possibly occur after a game's outcome. It's a perfect system, like communism and having casual sex *beep*-friends. I truly believe this is in everyone's best interest...save maybe for the striker who is one day gunned down by the opposing team's goalkeeper.

Have you ever watched match of the day on the BBC? They always focus on showing highlights on the English players whenever they can. Its shameless as well.

And don't get me started on all the elbows and fouls that Alan Shearer got away with over the years because of who he is.

Sorry the eye but have you ever watched the Olympics on NBC?

They show the events on US prime time (i.e. not live) and then focus on US dominated events.....

Is that bad?

No...its catering to your audience.

The point made about the BBC is also a good example.

The CBC does the same as they focus on Canadian dominated events...Curling anyone?

You try showing a US audience a sporting event where the focus is not on the US participants and see what happens to the ratings and how the complaints will flood in.

Another example.

The curling event in the winter olympics was shown as primetime on BBC just because some of the British competitors were in the running for medals. The Ice hockey coverage got delayed because of it.

Curling. Who is their right mind would watch it ahead of hockey?

Crazy. Somebody should teach those Troglodytes what constitutes real sport. Imagine, a UK network broadcasting a sport in which their country might actually medal. The nerve! They should have shown hockey, because Britons really want to watch hockey, they just don't know it yet.

Getting back to the subject at hand.
The World Cup starts in just over 3 months and I can't wait to see all the whining and bitching that will be going on here because the officials won't be biased to any team, let alone Korea.
I wonder what kind of spin the K-networks will put on it
