More right-wing nuttery, or Divine Inpsiration?

NAPLES, Florida (AP) -- If Domino's Pizza founder Thomas S. Monaghan has his way, a new town being built in Florida will be governed according to strict Roman Catholic principles, with no place to get an abortion, pornography or birth control.

The pizza magnate is bankrolling the project with at least $250 million and calls it "God's will."...

Of all the major American and Canadian chain pizzas, Dominoes is the best. That said, the owner is nutty. I remember back when Dominoes had that "Noid" character. "Avoid the Noid". Some guy who actually had the last name Noid went into a Dominoes with a shotgun and held the staff hostage. He felt the TV commercials were making fun of him and he wanted them stopped.

I guess this town's resitdents will be making "runs" for birth control or other "sinful" products.

Scary.

Not true! In the US anyway, Pizza Hut is much better than Dominoes. Dominoes is the only pizza I've had in Korea and it was just as bad as it was in the States.

On a side note- I was listening to a program on NPR about an endurance runner (he would run hundreds of miles at a time), he was only allowed to stop 10 minutes for every 12 hours of running. He would call Dominoes on his cell and have pizza delivered wherever he was because it was the most processed, highly refined crap he could find.

Looks like there are at least two other people who have been smoking that crack pipe too hard.

Hey now, there's no need to throw a 'Google It' at me.

Put down that crack pipe for a second. Originally, I was just making a whimsical comment in response to your evaluation of

as pretty cool. I'm sure you can sympathize with my apprehension, as such an evaluation is just slightly less ridiculous than something like:

However, if what you say about the petting farm animals being processed into pepperoni is true, then I will happily recant. Even if it's not true, I'd like to think of the concept as pretty cool. In fact, I'd even go a step further, to say that such a notion rocks some serious balls.

Note: Yeah, you were probably talking about this place, but theres no need to bring that up.

Quote:
When Domino's Pizza mogul and Frank Lloyd Wright enthusiast Thomas S. Monaghan commissioned non-Wrightian architect Gunnar Birkerts to design a Wrightian building for the Domino's Pizza corporate offices, the result was the Domino's Farms Prairie House. This building will be 6/10ths of a mile long when completed, and already boats the world's largest copper roof. At the north end, it bears some resemblance to Mr. Wright's Keys house in Rochester, Minnesota. Also of particular interest at this site is a gold-painted totem-pole-like model of Mr. Wright's "Golden Beacon" skyscraper that stands near one of the entrances.

Domino's Mansion: Thomas Monaghan, Gunnar Birkerts and the Spirit of Frank Lloyd Wright by Gordon P. Bugbee.

If I could remember what I did with it, I think I might violate some copyrights and scan & post a few photos from that book.
