|
|
So my friend has signed another contract recently ... and he went to Japan and got his visa. This was a shorter-term contract though, as both he and his boss realised that he may not be able to stay longer than 3 months or so.
At the moment, although he has the visa - he hasn't gotten the ARC card or gone down to the immigration/tax office to apply for one.
I'm kinda thinking that maybe he shouldn't mention it to his boss, that way he won't be officially tied to the school. So if his boss changes his mind about their 'informal' realtionship at some stage in the future ... his path will still be clear.
Are there any other factors I should tell my friend to consider ... ?
What would you do ? |

If he wants to leave the country and he has a visa, then he also needs to surrender the ARC at immigration on the way out. Not sure, but some problems may arise if he can't do this. |

Are you saying he doesn't already have one? If you are in Korea more than 90 days it is mandatory to get an ARC. To do otherwise is illegal and puts you at risk of deportation. |

Yes. And once you have it you're required by law to have with you at all times. The same applies to Koreans and their citizens' card (whatever it's actually called). |

Thanks, |
it is a fact.
in addition, it is NOT the ARC that ties one to a school. the VISA stamp in your passport ties you to a school. |
