so there are many threads with best restaurant or your fave dish or what you crave.

I want to know OVERALL what country do you think has the worse cuisine...also keep in mind variety and selection (as to keep those American and Commonwealth bashers in check.)

also, explain why.

For me, it is Korean food, just simply because I havent had any other country's food which I like less...

no need to defend or get huffy...im actually just really curious as to what places have (what you think is) unpalatable food.

Never tried it, but I'd imagine Norway would win, just on the basis of the lutefisk

lutefisk- A traditional Scandinavian dish prepared by soaking air-dried cod in a lye solution for several weeks before skinning, boning, and boiling it, a process that gives the dish its characteristic gelatinous consistency.

Japan.

Mostly seafood, expensive, lack of variety from what I've seen, and they can't even get Korean food right.

Best: England.

Fish and Chips, steak and ale pie, Cottage Pie, Toad-in-the-Hole, Cumberland Sausages, the best cheeses in the world, Roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Lamb with garlic, rosemary and mint sauce, Cornish pasties, sausage rolls...the list goes on.

Worst: junk food apart from Pizza. Ghastly. I like pretty much anything apart from food that's known to be poisonous to the body.

Norway was all right, actually. Helps if you don't mind herring.

Russia was the worst, over all. At least 'traditional' Russian food (cold borscht, warm beer) was.

When you're a tourist it's hard to tell because your budget accounts for so much of what you eat.

I had wild boar yesterday. Was that ever the fattiest meat I've ever tried.

Did you try Spotted Dick?

The worst must be Finland - Jacques Chirac said so.

Russian food is not all bad. They have these great freshly smoked sturgeon that they sell at the siberian train stations. Could well be the nicest food I ever had.

Iceland has a few strange dishes. There is one traditional meal where they urinate on a fish and bury it to eat it when it matures.

Korean food is a mixed bag for me. I really like a lot of the food but there are some dishes I can't bear the thought of.

Sunggee gupbob is the principal offender in this regard. Anybody like it?

chichum,
how long have you been in korea? most teachers adjust to the food after a while and find certain things they like (kalbi, bulgolgi, etc). everyone here has some dishes they can't stand, but i think it would be a shame if you don't discover some foods that are truly extraordinary here.

Which are? What dishes do you think are extraordinary? I have only tried a few things, like Bibimbap. What can you recommend to someone who doesn't eat beef or pork? Most menus are in Korean so I'm serious my options are limited.

Worst Food: Hagis from Scotland

Try

1. Hae Mul Pajeon. (squid pancake)

2. Get some Cho mu Gim Bab (Tuna Bimbap)

3. Den jeon Chigg gae (Beanpaste Soup)

4. jajjamyeon (black bean noodles with optional haemul, called a chinese dish but not easy to find it in china)

5. Dak Ghalbi (Chicken +veggies, get some rice thrown in when almost finished)

There are loads of other nice dishes that don't involve Pork or Beef.

Not mad about German food either. Too many dishes involve Pork and Cream. Its a fast track to an early grave. Still not as bad as American Fast food though.

Actually, Hae mul literally means seafood... but normally they do only put squid in the pancake.

Cho mu kim bab - tuna?? I know it as Cham Chi.

Jajjangmyeon is widely available in Beijing and especially in Hong Kong, what are you talking about?!

Razz
