(I hesitate to post this because I don't want to get into the 'Why is celebrity death more important than the death of the homeless? I weep for all death.' debate. I just want to celebrate a great man's life.)
Gordon Parks died today.
He was a great photographer and film-maker. (The original Shaft is still a bad mother fu - ... Watch your mouth!) He also wrote novels, poems, and music. He was a groundbreaker as far as civil rights is concerned. A true renaissance man.
The world is a poorer place without him.

Hmmm Gordon Parks or a homeless guy..whose life and death are more newsworthy? Only a totally whacked out person would even try to compare the two. Parks was an awesome photog. Dont know much about his filmmaking as thats not my area of interest but photography is and he was one of the greats. |
