Women call my friend cute alot. What does that mean? Nonthreatening? Not sexy? Piglet looking? Is this significant? Are many men called cute?
Please help my friend. He thanks you. |

| Even though you tell them that 'cute' is a term reserved for babies and puppies, they don't get it. Koreans girls love cute. Cute means you're not butt-ugly or fugly. They love their cute Hello Kitty, cute boyfriend, cute cell phone accessories, cute friends, and cute whatever elses. In your friend's case, 'cute' probably means that they think he is younger and handsome looking or perhaps he uses endearing facial expressions and/or words. Who knows? |

I think you are over-estimating. |

| You're not so bad that I'm embarrassed to be seen with you, but there's no chance I'll ever sleep with you. |

Yep. Cute is usually reserved for little brothers and sisters, or people who remind you of them. |

the important question is whether these girls are korean or western. as for koreans, who knows what the hell they mean when they use any english words.

...unless she keeps telling you how much she thinks your friend is soooo cute... she might fancy him then? |
I suppose. I do think "cute" is more of a high school word though. I would say hot rather than cute to describe someone in whom I had serious interest. |

I call my boyfriend cute. He hates it. so Paul, if you're reading this, "cute" means "rugged, manly and unbelievably sexy" and you should go read something else now.
um. To me, "hot" implies stunning, which is a very, very small subset of men, possibly limited only to Johnny Depp. (I'm picky.) I use "cute" to mean a guy who's good-looking, but not to the point of being stunning. I like to look at cute guys, and never mind being seen with one, but they're not headed for careers as supermodels. Maybe "cute" is a bit juvenile, but I've never found any other more suitable words. Good-looking, attractive or handsome sound too... I don't know... formal or something. |

Hot means I want to rip your clothes off and want you now. Cute means that I would like to get to know you better.
