Does anyone know of a university in Korea that has NO dorm curfew? If you know of one, do you know the name of the person in charge of dorm affairs (he/she doesn't have to speak English)?
We have a midnight curfew here, and I'm trying to gather information to change the policy. |

Our dorm has a curfew for the students, but it doesn't apply to the teachers, who all have keys. |

we have a curfew like midnight and getting somebody after then to unlock the door is getting bad, there is a phone thats supposed to ring a security guard but getting him to answer is very hard.
we've been fighting that one for years. Even called the fire marshall who laughed at us. If there is a fire here at say 3AM we are toast |

My goal is to have NO curfew for anyone. I think the idea of a curfew is totally ridiculous. Most of the guys in the dorms have done their military service. Seems absurd that these guys who have been using weapons for 2+ years should have a midnight curfew. As for the girls: if a girl misses curfew, where does she stay? Possibly with her off-campus housing boyfriend! Totally absurd! |

yonsei's International dorm does not have a curfew. It actually has a thumbprint reader for all the people that live there. they used to have a 1am curfew, but a semester after i was there, they decied to do away with it, since most kids just snuck in anyways. |

I'm down here in Kyungju at a small private university. Last year and in previous years they had midnight curfew, and the students who missed usualy spent the night in a PC bang. This year they have changed the rules, and done away with the curfew. Students are much happier. The ones who want to study complain that it's a little noisier, but generaly they're a lot happier too. I don't know the details of why the situation was changed. Could have been the student counsel, or just much wiser and more sensible administrators. |

Thanks for all who answered this post, especially Jurassic5 and Medic. Hopefully, you've given me enough ammunition (sp? I tried 1 "m" and 2 "m's" and neither looks right! ) to change out curfew here. Medic, thanks especially for the "problem" of noise. I'm sure that will come up, and I think I've got a solution for it. (Some rooms, only beds, others, only desks.) Wish me luck!! |

Well let me count the ways and this is for both the boys and the girls. Happens a lot at my school.
1. Just stay out all night drinking. 2. Go to a friends house. 3. Go to a video room with friends and sleep. 4. (and best) Go to a JJim-jing bong and sleep. 5. Stay in a PC room all night, maybe get some sleep there.
6. Rent a yeogwan room for the night. 7. The singing room is a good place to wast some hours. 8. The campus center club rooms, or a class room. There has to be others too.... |
