I'm just posting in case anyone is looking for or does a search later for a wisdom tooth surgeon. I just had mine out by a guy in Gangnam. I have had no problems and generally had a good experience at the office. I paid 300,000won, most of which was for the optional conscious sedation...which I highly recommend. The doctor spoke English, but not the rest of the staff.
His name is @ Sychar Center for Facial Surgery. Gangnam station exit 8. Walk straight up the hill. It's like 5 minutes up on the left in a building called , on the 8th floor. There's a Starbucks on the ground floor and Smile Dental Clinic on the 7th floor.
PM me with any ques. |

Dude!
You got totally ripped. I have had three of my four wisdom teeth out in Korea (the other was taken out years ago in my own country). I have had three different experiences, each was done extremely well and cheaply. The first was a simple pull (25 000), the next was a little more problematic (40 000), and the last was most recent and impacted, which required weekend surgery for 150 000. All allowed me to continue with normal life the following day, while the most recent (despite its seriousness) was done so well (and in 15 minutes) that I didn't even have to go home and relax, etc. I didn't get my done ever in Gangnam...wouldn't even consider it for that price!! |

I paid 10000 won for a wisdom tooth to be pulled out last year. It was a little tough going, being locally anaethatised and having him yanking at my jaw trying to get the sucker out, but I was (surprisingly) back to work the next day. |

Woah! I was gonna post on this very subject as my third world dental work is not really holding up.
Where can I get my four wisdom teeth yanked for the cheapest price? I live around Kangnam...300,000 seems kind of steep but I really think I gotta get it done soon. So if anyone knows a cheaper place please let me know.
THANKS OP! |

Lucky you! I had all 4 drilled out last year in Ohio. It cost approx $1000 USD, all but $20 on the insurance. I was incapacitated for 2 days and worst of all I was puking blood at midnight from the Vicodin. The morphine was good though. I had to have mine all drilled out. My teeth were shifting around in my mouth for 3 months afterward. |

Same here. It's supposed to be that cheap because it's covered by health insurance (ie. the rates are set by the government). The OP just got totally ripped off. It happens to foreigners and Koreans alike
I got ripped off the first year I was here, too. 120000won (was nearly 200$ Canadian at that time) for a filling when it should have been 20000 won only. Some unethical dentists will take you to the cleaners if they know they can get away with it (as in if you don't show them your health insurance card, thus making the procedure off the books).
Some Korean dentists bill their patients up to 8 million won for dentures that cost them a couple of hundred thousand won. Dentures aren't covered by health insurance, so they overcharge their patients and keep the transactions off the books. |
