After much research and observation, i can see that korea is a great place to earn a large wage with some great benefits also (free housing, flight, etc) however, all contracts are minimum one year....is it possible to get a six month contract? obviously forfeiting some benefits.
anyone heard of such an arrangement? |

Six month contracts do happen, but are relatively uncommon. It's my impression they come up most often for people who have already worked at a place for a year and ask to extend for 6 months. |

Unless you enter into an untenable work situation, you might find 6 months isn't really all that long to be here. It's a serious, major move and it's nice to plant yourself down for a year minimum. |

6 month contracts are possible, but like someone above said, they are not common. If you want a 6 month contract, why not just sign for a year and then quit, and go home or to another country after those 6 months?
I just got a 4 month contract, with my plane ticket paid for, but that's at the same school im currently working for. |

i'm also looking for a shorter term contract and have given your first suggestion some thought, but i feel as if i would be deceiving the employers. i'd like to be honest, but i bet they'd just turn me down. has anyone here ever entered in a 1 year contract with the intention of leaving midway through? |

When this question came up a few months ago someone said it's between you and the boss. Immigration doesn't want to be bothered with anything less than a year (though I've seen 10 month visas, probably to avoid severance). It was said that one would talk with the boss about leaving early and what that would mean in moneys paid. Usually a boss wants the year to recoup his recruiting fee, visa run, and other fees paid at the outset. |
