Has anyone joined a Kendo, known as Kumdo in Korean if I'm not mistaken, class in Seoul? How much is it per month? Did you have to buy all the gear aswell? Can anyone recommend a place somewhere along Line 2 between Daerim and Kangnam?

I took it last year. It was, I believe, 80,000 per month for membership. The first month will be more to get your practice uniform and bamboo sword. You don't really need to speak English, if that's an issue, though it will help a little at first if you speak Korean or there is someone there who speaks some English. Once you've progressed enough to start sparing, you will have to shell out something in the range of 500,000 won for your armour. As for places in gangnam, I can't help you there.
The korean is ˵. Hope this helps.

I saw a basement shop off of Insa-dong that sells swords of many kinds, including Kumdo swords. Does anyone know of any other places in Seoul or nearby?

I used to practice my Kumdo exercises in the sauna jumping back and forth simulating the strikes with hands positioned as if holding a sword outside the kumdo-gwan. But, boy do your legs, shoulders and arms burn. Will collect my gear from my old school upon my return to Korea as it makes a great and meaningful souvenir too.
