So, I just finished watching the first episode of this season's American Idol. It was PAINFUL! It wasn't the crappy voices. It was the contestants' reactions to the judges opinions. Some of them were swearing, freaking out, crying. I mean, these people ACTUALLY thought they could sing! And when they'd come out crying on their moms' shoulders their moms would say 'Don't worry baby, you'll be famous some day'. Uh...NO, he won't! He sucks! Why are you giving your child such false hope? I did feel bad for these people, especially the 16 year olds, but....come on! At first I thought some of the contestants were joking, just wanting to get on t.v. But, you knew after the judges told them they sucked that they weren't joking. How can people be so far removed from reality?

I play the piano, reasonably well. BUT, I know I could never win any competition. I also think I can carry a tune, but more in a general range...nothing too high or low. Call it a good karaoke voice...I do a mean Sweet Caroline.

Edit: And one more thing...one of the things I found THE most annoying was when these people who were auditioning would put their index finger to their ear like some singers do. Now, as far as I know, the reason 'real' singers do this is because they usually have an ear piece in their ear which they use to help them stay in key. The morons on American Idol have no such ear piece...so why in the hell are you sticking your finger to your ear??

AND...I was thinking about the teens who go on, fail, and then bawl their eyes out afterword on camera. Think anyone will make fun of them back in their high schools once everybody sees the footage of a 16 year old dude crying his eyes out? AND....what's up with guys singing stuff like 'My Heart Will Go On' in a soft, feminine manner. I don't think American Idol tryouts is the right place to air your transgender leanings....

The first few episodes (when you get to see the freaks) are the only part of the series worth watching....

You got a link?

Hey,

Sorry...I'm in Hong Kong. I watched it 'live via satellite' on Star World.

The auditions are definitely hilarious.

Every torrent site worth beans should have it up.

Do you mind if I mention how much I dislike American Idol and how it proves the idea that crap floats?

I wonder who came up with the idea for that show. The British guy is the only good judge, pmpous ass that he is. The black guy says about 5 different things over and over, and Paula Abdul ..... I don't know.
Yep, a lot of people believe they can sing. One of my favorite contestants was a guy who looked like he was wearing pajamas, a bit of a yokel. He looked at the camera and did a little Tom Cruise too cool for words act, "My name is Darell, but people call me flawless." You'd have to pay me to audition, I know I can't sing, but many just wanna be on TV or live a fantasy world.

Did you catch the tie in for the next weeks episode outta seattle? Man, it looks like every freak who is able to get a day release pass from the nut farm turns up to audition. Should be good viewing, i quite like the show, moreso after last year when Taylor Hicks, a dude with real passion and talent, not just a sexified pop drone, won it.

yes, Simon Cowell the brit, created the show and makes LOOT off of it.
yes, he's hilarious and truthful.
yes Seattle is much funnier than minnesota because as stated before, every tree hugging nut in the area came out to Attempt to sing.
yes, the only episodes I watch are the beggining ones

I love it. Freaks of the world unite!
You have nothing to lose but you anonymity.

Simon is pompous, but I wait on his every tight vest word.

The presenter who hangs around outside is bit useless though.

- American Idol was created by Simon Fuller not Cowell (Cowell created a spinoff called "you got talent" or some crap).

- Randy Jackson indeed says the same things over and over again like "That was Hawt!!" and other worthless advice.

- Abdul is....an artist who can't sing.

- Cowell is the only good judge, but you could always sense that he's looking for a money machine and not just there to appreciate talent.

- Best guest judge IMO was Lionel Richie, he also helped Simon slag off Randy after Clay Aiken's performance when Randy said that he was just "alright" (CA is currently the most popular formal idol winner over even Kelly Clarkson).

- Best female AI IMO was Carrie Underwood (never heard Fantasia though), best male is Clay Aiken.

- Did anyone see those Indian siblings? They were goooood.

It's sad that I am about to say this.

Clay Aiken actually lost the game show that is American Idol.

He isnt pompoyus. He is honest. Those people are terrible and they need to hear it. Paula is useless as a judge. Totally useless.

It's funny how Randy Jackson is always cool with the black performers. Even when they're the dorkiest of dorks. It's like he's just waiting to be the one behind the next black American Idol.

Check out the video of Simon saying to that one guy, "You can't sing and you can't dance and you remind me of one of those creatures that live in the jungle. What are they called, those creatures with the massive eyes? Oh yes, bush babies, you look like a bush baby."

Then the guys says, "Well Simon, you have your opinion."

Simon says, "Yes, and it's a very good opinion."
