Warmest weather since Viking era
This past year's weather has been the warmest in over a millennium
Not since Harald Bluetooth was king in the late 10th century has Denmark had a 12-month period as warm as during this past year, and meteorologists say the trend is likely to continue.
Experts at Danish Meteorological Institute have themselves been surprised at how warm the weather has been here and all across Europe.
'It's unusual and in many ways it's gone amok,' DMI's Jens Hesselberg Christensen told Jyllands-Posten newspaper. 'My immediate guess is that we haven't weather this warm since the Viking era.'
April was the sixth month in the past twelve to set a new record, joining July, October, November, December and January. The average temperature for the 12-month period has been 10.8 Celsius - far above the average of 7.7, putting Denmark's weather on par with what would be normal for cities as far south as Paris.
