Hey!

Is anyone living in Seoul interested in starting up a Photography Club? The Foreigners in Korea seem to be well traveled and, Im guessing, have a lot of really interesting photos.

Wed get together once a month (or so), bring our favorite photos, discuss them, get advice, talk about equipment, and meet fellow photo enthusiasts.

What do you think?

Mike

If you start a photography club, you should pay tribute to Gordon Parks, a great photographer (and filmaker, and novelist, and poet, and musician).

He died today and the world is poorer for it.

A good way to start this photography club would be to organize a second Dave's Photo Contest.

It was very successful two years ago. You can bank on at least 15 members taking part (me for one).

The tricky part is that someone has to be computer literate enough to set up the website to handle the contest.

Actually, there doesn't need to be a contest. Just a website where Dave's photographers can upload their photos for the viewing of all concerned. The ability to comment on each photo would be nice.

Lemon did all this two years ago. Anyone able to setup such a thing?

I checked out Flickr - - seems like an excellent way to go.

So did you guys ever manage to get a photography excursion organized?

How about we plan for one now ... I work during every week day, but would anyone like to get together, say, next Sunday in the afternoon (March 18th)?

We could meet somewhere central, like downtown, and get in some good people/urban shots.

Hold those congratulations until it actually goes to print. Things have a way of evaporating at the last moment.

I would be up for that, although I wont say it with 100% certainty.

Jinju, your pictures are excellent - - they really capture the Korean experience, and the colors/perspectives are fantastic. I'm guessing they'll find something they like.

As for meeting up, lets say the 18th of March - - it gives people enough time to plan. If anyone stumbles upon this thread, and is interested in photographing down town Seoul, let us know!

Or, of course, any other suggestions for different locations are welcome!

I'll copy this from the other thread ...

A photography club is a great idea. Meeting up once a month would be fine with me ... but how about alternating venues (e.g. NOT Seoul every time?). Pick a place that has photographic merit (there are lots ... Gongju, Buyeo, Gyeongju, Yeosu, etc. not to mention the mountain parks and folk villages) and meet there. There's no where that people armed with the LP and a train ticket can't get to. That way the Seoulites can get out of Gotham and see a bit of the country. Only a idea.

If anyone fancies going somewhere other than Seoul, PM me.
