I just need some insturctions on how to get there.
I am probably gonna come up around Gupabal or that general area. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me which station is best, and where I could catch a bus there. I don't really want to shell out for a taxi. |

Surely somewhere in downtown Seoul is nearer than Gupabal? |

Gupabal is the closest station. It is quite simple though, just get off at that station and follow the other 8,475,847,903 people dressed in Hiking clothes going to the mountain and just go stand at the same bus stop. There is also a bus that goes there from the Sejong Centre, but I just can't remember the number right now. |

Hey, it's a giant (!!) national park, Bukhansan is. And it's a whole range of mountains, not just a single peak. It starts in my back yard (literally) and stretches north to Kim Jong-il's front yard. |

...Being picky: and in English we wouldn't call it 'Bukhan Mountain' by the way - that is a very Korean approach in English to what we would naturally say 'Mount Bukhan'...I usually just say Bukhansan though... |

Woah! I didn't know. I assumed Gyeongbokgung or somewhere like that would be nearest because it's geographically closer (since obviously Bukhansan is immediately north of downtown Seoul) but I guess it's less straightforward in terms of paths and stuff. Gupabal 'as the crow flies' seems bloody miles away to me.
I live near the big national park that is Bukhansan too, not a million miles away from Gupabal, actually. |

Gupabal is the main starting point, but there's also some good hikes from Yeonseonae (sp?) station. Or, you could head out toward Uijeongbu and hit the mountain there - also a fine area. Having done the Gupabal area (which leads you to Baegundae, the peak), I usually just head for one of those northern stations and then start walking toward the hills - you're always bound to find something interesting. |

Ok, we established Gupabal. If anyone culd post something more definite, such as bus number or exit number of the station, that's be cool. |

At Gupabal, go out Exit No. 6 and take Bus 156-1 to "Bukhansanseong" Bukhanfortress, which is about a 15 minute ride. Recommend hanging a Lewy at the trailhead to get the most direct route onto Baegundae. Happy trails! |
