for movies and software, the best is torrents. Get a client (Azureus, Shareaza, BitComet, whatever) and hit a torrent site for .torrent files. You can also get music this way, but it's more hit and miss I find. I don't really know what the best for music is. I used to like Ares (Aresgalaxy.org) but I haven't used it in a while so i don't know how it is now.

What happned to soulseek? I use that sometimes to find a song or two.

It's still going but it's nothing of what it used to be.
soulseek was amazing about 3 or 4 years ago. It got flooded by kazaa users that didn't learn how to use the program. Tons of people leaching as much as possible and not sharing any files. Also, the best thing about soulseek was that you would share and download complete albums organized by folders. You just right clicked "download folder" and you got the full album. Most of the new users didn't share or download using folders which is really annoying.
