I have an early termination clause in my contract, and I'm considering exercising it. If I do, does the termination of my contract automatically terminate my work visa too, so I can take another position?

Hahaha. Every single contract has that. It doesn't mean you will be free and clear. It means you have a chance of quitting and getting that release letter.

Yes and no.
As I understand things, you will lose your current E2, but will need a Letter of Release from your present boss in order to legally get another job. |

You will need for your employer to cancel your visa with immigration or to do so yourself by going there and bringing a Letter of Release.
Make sure to read the entire early termination of contract clause as it might include you having to reimburse airfare if you quite before a certain amount of time into the contract... |

I just broke my contract and have gotten a new job. My employer gave me a Letter of Release without any problems.
They should be OK about it. Just be honest about why you want to leave, and if they can't help ur situation, then they have no reason to keep you there against your will.
Good Luck |

Yes, but in reality it doesn't always work out that way. Hakwon bosses are often seemingly understanding people until you want to leave. Then all of a sudden a teacher often finds the need for a lawyer. You were lucky to get out of your contract with no hassles. From what I've heard of others' stories, that is not the norm. |

Hagwans that have problems keeping people (usually due to not-so-wonderful working conditions) are also the same places that get angry when teachers want to leave early. The reason is simple........they know they will have trouble finding a new teacher and if they do they know they will have trouble getting that person to stick around.
Rather than look at the obvious reasons as to why people are leaving, they blame the teacher. |
