When I was job hunting the last time I couldn't have been more explicit that I did *not* want to work at a children's hogwan; yet, every day recruiters would send me long lists of children's hogwan positions. I sent one a reply I thought was quite witty but won't repeat it here for fear of offending unemployed Kiwis and South Africans. She actually took it in stride and later almost got me hooked up with a public school.

Ha, that's such a joke ... like a Korean owner would turn down an teacher just because he got into an argument with a recruiter.

Sending these guys a strongly worded letter to express your annoyance is one thing ... but for bonus points ... you could track down the teachers in their databases and send those teachers a message letting them know exactly what their recruiters think of people who make a living out of their language.

Taking just one of their teachers ... James Brochu ... then doing a google search

google# "James Brochu" esl

And hey presto - the guy runs a website. Which has a link to his personal email address ... now I wonder whether James (and all the other teachers) would be interested to know what bestesl really thinks of them ????

Now would be a great time for bestesl to issue a public apology to all esl teachers ... Very Happy

Tell the punk to go back to school...hopefully not one of the Jungchul ones, if his/her English ability is any indication of what the schools provide.

And some of them think WE should be more professional... Rolling Eyes

I replied that Jungchul is a hagwon, and neither a public school nor a college.

May I ask what the tone of your reply was? Exactly what did you say?

I'm also curious as to what the OP said in his original E-mail to the recruiter? Were you sarcastic, abusive or abrasive? Or was it just a simple message pointing out the fact that you are specifically looking for a public school job only?
Anyway, it's still a downright rude response and nobody should deal with recruiters that make such comments against teachers. Blacklist them.
