Hello people:

I was issued a cellphone by my employer that I have recently been using to make and take international calls. The trouble is that lately I can't seem to get international calls anymore... My employer is adament about having me stay until a replacement teacher is found or until I keel over from classroom exhaustion (I teach over 50 class hours/week).
I've been trying to find work in Japan (or Thailand in due time), but the contacts I've made via email have been telling me that they can't get throught to my cell#. I've tried to cover the obvious stuff like country access codes, but I suspect that my employer had the telco disable incoming international calls (But what's the point of this when I can still make outgoing intl. calls?) Maybe it's just my paranoia, but I think something is amiss. Please assist...

Go to Youngsan and get a second hand phone, and a pay-as-you-go plan.
The phone should cost between 50K, and 100K, and then you give them the money you want to "talk" with; incoming calls won't cost you anything.

Which company is the cell phone under?
Call them and explain to the operator (yes you can get ones that speak English) what's been happening.
Recently I found that I had inadvertently blocked a couple of people's numbers (my phone isn't in English), so called KTF who helped me out.

When someone calls you from another country, you have to tell them to drop the first "0" in the prefix. For example, if your cell phone number is 010-xxxx-xxxx, then to call you from overseas would be 82-10-xxxx-xxxx.
