Any last minute advice?
I'm planning on getting an AMD 3200-3700
512-1024 ram,
HD 80-200...S-ATA or not
Combo drive
128 bit 128 meg video card with DVI output
I will probably buy it in Yongsan, failing that I will shop around in Techno mart. They have a decent deal for a 3700 there. Anyone have any suggestions where is the best to buy or what price range to expect? |

Ask for English Windows XP, unless you can/want to work in Korean. There is no "switch" that converts Korean language XP to English dialog boxes. |

AMD is good, get at aeast 1GB of RAM, if you want to play hardcore games then you need 2GB, and a good VGA card. Get at least a Nvidia 6800.
Also, get a 300Gb drive, they are not that much more expensive. |

Yes.
If in Yongsan, go to Com ZIP on the 2nd floor of the Son-In builiding, 16-1, 21 dong, 3055-56.

There is a guy there named Lee Jong Gun. He helped me twice. His English isn't great, but his listening is not bad. He's plenty communicative enough if you know names of parts, etc. I bought a computer there for a friend 2 weeks ago. I was specific with the specs, and he had some of the best prices around on most items. If you know exactly what you want, you can ask for specific brands, usually. I would highly recommend ponying up a few extra won and getting a nice wireless keyboard and mouse (Logitech or Microsoft). They store across the way had one, and they guy just got it from them and added it to my order.
I recommend getting a 7200 RPM Western Digital 250 Gig HD like I bought, with a 16 meg Buffer (ask for that buffer size specifically). It's SATA. It is a screamer for 120,000 won. The 16 meg buffer helps a lot with speed.
They will load a cracked Korean windows XP copy onto your computer. I specifically told them I wanted a paid legal version, which I had to input the serials in myself and register later, but they installed it along with Hangul office and some other freebees.
They built the computer in under 2 hours, and installed everything for me. Well worth the 15,000 or 20,000 won that I paid to have that done. |

Knowing I was going to buy a computer in Korea, I brought my own copy of XP, as well as any other English software I would need. So thats not a problem. |

A decent processor is what I'm most concerned with. The rest I can just upgrade when things drop in price or when I take the computer back home with me. |

Then you should be most concerned about a decent motherboard as you can always upgrade the processor when prices drop etc. |
