I just got my F-4 Visa here in the the U.S. and will be arriving in Korea in May. My question is, is the F-4 visa still for 2 years or 90 days? I noticed that the expiration date shows exactly 90 days from the day I received the F-4 on my passport. I specifically told the lady at the embassy that I will be staying in Korea for atleast a year. I know that when I get to Korea, I have to register within 90 days, but I am a little confused on the length of the Visa. Please, can anyone fill me in.

Also, am I allowed to travel outside of Korea with the F-4 visa? I am planning on traveling to Japan, Thailand, China, and the US. Do I need a special permit or authorization from the embassy?

I assume it works a little like the e-2, in that 90 days is the time frame you have to enter teh country, and then you get the rest when you check in with immigration

Hey, I just went through this about three weeks ago. The F-4 visa lasts for two years.

Now, even though you went through the whole process in the states, you have to go through much of it again here to get an alien card. I got my F-4 in Atlanta, from the consulate, but still had to turn in almost all of the paperwork again. To get a resident alien card, you will need your family register, copy of your birth certificate, copy of the front page of your passport, copy of the visa page, your actual passport and the 10,000 won revenue stamp (you can get it in the basement floor). If you don't have another copy of your family register, just go across the street and get it. I needed all of the above mentioned documents before they would process my alien card application. So try to bring them if you can, it'll make the process much easier.

When you get to immigration, go to the office on the left. That's for F-4 holders. I would try and get the guy if you can. He speaks English and is friendly.

Your alien card, in conjunction with your F-4 visa, will act as your multiple entry visa.

Oops, sorry, misread the post. I was talking about the 90 days after you get in. The date on the visa is how long you have to enter before it expires, just like peppermint said.
