This is just context:
Well, I haven't even left the country and ALREADY I've been given the runaround by Korean bureaucrats... a new record. Last week, I was told by the Vancouver consulate that the school must process (on my behalf) a "Certificate of Confirmation of Visa Issuance" (using 3 documents). Now the school tells us that they CANNOT do this. I phone the consulate today to figure out what is happenning: specifically going to the section "for Visa information". They tell me the school cannot process my visa (which was never a question that I asked) and cannot confirm for me which documents to send. Then they become snide and I realize i'm totally wasting my time.
I'm pissed off!!! (this is my 2nd time back to korea..am I a sucker?)
and help please
I have a list of qs.
1) Can these be obtained in Korea AND "back home" (in my case, Canada)? I was married in Canada to a canadian, does that mean that it MUST be one or the other?
2) I was told my E-2 visa AND my wife's F-3 visa must be processed together. True?
3) I read on a site that ONLY spouses who could not "teach English" would be able to get an F-3. True?
4) Can my wife enter the country on a tourist visa assuring them she would obtain an F-3 visa?
5) I am fairly sure that f3s can be procured in Korea: Does this include marriages outside of Korea?
6) If we can get the F3 in Korea, what documents (exactly) are needed?
There are many posts regarding F3 visas but they all seem to be regarding work. If there is one or two that answers this information, a shove in the right direction would be GREAT....otherwise, answers would be ASTOUNDING!!!!
Thank you all for any GOOD info!!!! |

F3 visas can definitely be obtained in Korea. I came over on a work visa. The wife came in on a tourist. Once here, our employer used our marriage certificate, my contract and a couple of forms to get her an F3 |

I think there are 3 ways to get your wife in Korea:
1) visit immigration together while in Korea (spouse is on tourist visa)
2) visit the Korean embassy together in a foreign country
3) arrange visa issuance while you are in Korea, and spouse acts on it to come to Korea
All these ways require the same documents, to prove you have a spouse and that you can support/sponsor your spouse.
Embassies in one country will be different to another, so the approval process will vary. On rare occasions, the embassy/immigration may ask for something extra documents. From what I gather, they simply ask for the marriage certificate and your contract, and maybe some other proof you are working and living in Korea.
Let us know how it turns out. |

I obtained the F-3 for my wife while in the Philippines. My recruiter handled the paper work in korea. He mailed the Blue Visa issuance form to the korean consulate in phil. We just went there with her passport and got the visa stamp. I dont know if the schools will do it...but if you have a recruiter..they should be able to do it for you. |
