I swapped out a defective harddrive on my computer today after not opening up the case in ages and noticed tons and tons of dust. Just giant dust bunnies on every fan and air intake. Any advice on the best way to remove these without damaging anything?

A can of air-duster. Y'know. Pressurized air. You can get it anywhere that sells computer accessories.
Use that to shift the dust from the nooks and crannies. Then use your vacuum (gently!) with the little brush attachment to get rid of the dust.
I do this about every 3-4 months. But I have to as I run my computer 24/7 so I get a shed load of dust. |

Yeah, I second that. I am due for the same. Take the box outside when you shoot it with the duster spray can. Make sure your computer has cooled down, and don't spray too long or too close to any given component. Short, quick bursts are best. That spray gets cold, and we all know what happens to plastic (and metal) when you cool it too fast. |
