I just got back from a fantastic weekend with some mates in Gyeongju. There were 8 of us so we hired a minivan with a driver. He collected us from East Daegu (the nearest KTX station) and took us all around Gyeongju. A bit pricey at 300,000 for the whole weekend but when it was divided by 8 it was extremely reasonable.
He speaks enough English to communicate but if you go with a Korean who doesn't mind translating or if your Korean is mid-range, you will have no problems. He is absolutely fantastic. Extremely funny and full of great ideas of where to go. He is a fully qualified tour guide not just some fly-by-nighter. He doesn't take you to places for commission either, which is something many of these guys do.
If you don't have a car or don't want to drive yourselves around, I would definitely recommend him.
He also knows all the great restaurants and can get you good deals on motels (we got a 50% discount at the Wellich Chosun).
His website is www.ilovegyeongju.com. and contact phone is 011-503-8010.
He helped us have an awesome weekend so I hope anyone who tries him out finds the same thing. |
