Eight classes a day have become common among the large franchises
anywhere throughout Korea, the main reason why I prefer to teach at
a public school, where the number of daily hours are reasonable. Since
a hagwon is a private business with a huge overhead to cover, expect
the salary to be low in spite of the heavy schedule. The diversity of ages
and levels of students account for the large number of different classes
each day. It's more precise to say,"Don't teach at most hagwons here.
One can either work at a new small hagwon, where the student population
is low and the number of daily classes fewer than at a large institute, or
one can go for the mainstream private or public sector. And there are
Japan and Taiwan to consider for anyone who wishes to work at a private
institute. Most institutes in these countries require that one teaches just
5 classes a day. |
