yo d00ds, I have some very inexpensive well made comfortable running shoes waiting for me in my hometown of Spokane, Washington, and I want to have my dad ship them over along with a couple of odds and ends I forgot to bring with me (belt, PDA, etc)

What's the cheapest and easiest way to get them shipped to me? I'm living by station (two stops away from in case I spelled byeongcham and/or suwon wrong)

I don't need that stuff immediately, so I'm hoping to get it here for less than $20 and within a month

<$20?
Only sea mail. Takes 6 - 8 weeks (4 weeks if you're very lucky).
Make sure he writes a value of less than $120 USD on the box or you might get stuck paying duty.

I got a package sent over that was about 30lbs from Canada, and it took 9 days and only cost $120. So, I am sure the US post must have a similar air post, and if it is light, it will probably cost you like $30-$40USD.

(FYI: You spelt Suwon right, but it is and not .)

Get your Dad to wait for the turn of the tide, make sure the bottle is tightly corked, and then launch into the deep blue beyond.

thx for the tip, but actually we already tried that

The thing is that my shoes are pretty large (size 13 in the us, I think 58 in the uk, something between 290 and 320 in korea)

So we couldn't stuff them in there, unfortunately

I guess I'll just tell my dad to head to the post office and ask what they have in the way of sea mail

Are there any tricks to getting something here successfully? Does the address have to be in hangul or is the roman alphabet okay? and if it's romanized, is there a specific way it has to be romanized?

The Roman alphabet is fine for addresses. I think it's best to type it, so it is as clear as possible. I also recommend that you have your package shipped to your school. Be sure to include the school's phone number in the address.

Get someone at school to write the school's address in English for you. Korean addresses are in reverse order from ours, but that doesn't seem to make much difference....but it's a good idea to reproduce the Korean style if you can.

I sometimes wonder, nay, worry, about the educational quality in the US. Didn't anyone else ever have to write research papers? Before the internet? When you had to find books in the card catalogue?

Sorry for the flame. I suppose I should probably just suffer in silence.

I just had a package sent... make sure the total value (shipping included) is under 150. I had to pay 10% because it was a game accessory (darts). It was a real pain because i had to go all the way to omokgyo for being 4 bucks over the limit.

You could always make friends with someone on the base, Yongsan and have it shipped to them, in their name. If they will go for it. It would only be charged the same rate as shipping within the continental USA.
