An update for anyone who may be interested (see CAPS): -
My girlfriend and I will be doing some travelling next month, and I have some queries on visas. Based on our itinerary (listed below), can anyone confirm that I have the correct information regards visa requirements for both myself (a British national) and my girlfriend, who is Korean: -
Hong Kong - No visas required for either of us. TRUE.
China - Will both require visas (easy enough to obtain). TRUE.
Mongolia - (As China). TRUE.
Russia - Will both require visas (accommodation must be arranged in advance). PARTLY TRUE - An invitation is required to get the visa, meaning booking either a hotel or tickets in advance. Travel agents can supply this, as can many specialist websites.
Ukraine - Visa waiver agreement with EU countries means no visa required for myself. A similar agreement set to be signed with Korea in Feb/March. Has this been signed yet? NO, VISA IS STILL REQUIRED FOR KOREANS, BUT NOT FOR BRITS.
Poland - I can travel freely as an EU citizen, no visa required for her. TRUE.
Germany - (As Poland). TRUE.
France - (As Poland). TRUE.
United Kingdom - (As Poland). TRUE.
I should point out that we shall be travelling overland as tourists, and do not intend on staying in a country beyond thirty days, or re-entering any of the countries.
Please excuse what may be seen as laziness on my part, but I won't be able to visit/contact all of the relevant embassies for another couple of weeks. Obviously when I do, I'll update this info for others, but any immediate info would be greatly appreciated. |
