Well,...

PERKS **** South Korean jobs usually include airfare, housing, and bonuses.

What bonuses? Perhaps, there should be references to the bonus of learning about labor boards and governmental procedures in a foreign country.

salaries can vary wildly, with Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan at the top end paying $2,000 to $3,000 a month.

Yes, salaries can vary wildly. They vary widely, too.

WORK HOURS ****
WORK HOURS: Ranked from one star (air-traffic control) to five stars (boss's kid).

A newly graduated university student from Canada can almost be treated like the "boss's kid?" A well-trained, professional teacher with several years of experience can almost be treated like the "boss's kid?" Who is the boss, Kim Jong-il?

I do agree with most. The norm for hagwons is 30 hours per week. I only work 25, but my contract says 30. Any hours above 25 and the boss pays OT. She is pretty good in that regards. Smile

haha. i'm cruisin through my last 4 months here! Ever since kindy graduation (I'm at a hogwon), my hours have been cut down to 21 teaching hours a week.
Although, when I was working closer to 30 hours, it was really nothing to complain about, when you think of working the 8 hour shifts everyday back home!

Is this on top of a "salary?" Do you have that in your contract, and is that typical or did you get lucky(the OT part)?

Mr. Guru isn't a teacher. Runs his own business (or something along those lines?)

As for me I do 21*40 minute classes a week. But eight are on Monday and nine on Wednesday, although as of next week they are cutting the two kindy classes from my schedule and replacing them with a 70 minute class on Tuesday.
