Hi there.
I have a question about leaving korea at the end of your contracts. If anyone knows how organized epik/public schools are, you'll understand why I've had zero luck getting answers from them....no luck from immigration or Korean consulates in the US either.
I got my visa in the US and it says it expires on 8/16, however I didn't actually enter Korea until 8/22, which is stamped in my passport. My Alien Reg. Card expires on 8/22, which corresponds with my entry date, however my contract doesn't expire until 8/24.
Do I need to leave Korea by the 8/16 to avoid fines or will they go by the date on my Alien Reg. Card? How do I go about getting a month long extension from immigration?
Thanks for any answers or guiding me to any resources. |

| They'll go by the card date, because it's an extension of your visa. |

Simply go to immigration and have it sorted...be polite and appear to be in high spirits...tail up, and all that! |

If you do nothing then you MUST leave the country by 8/22.
If you NEED to extend for contractual purposes only then take your contract to the immigration office and extend for the required few days.
If you wish to extend for a short time for tourism then simply take your plane ticket to the immigration office and they will extend your stay until the date of your plane ticket. Note here: no ticket = no extension.
If you decide to renew at your current school for a longer period, then take your new contract to the immi office and pay for an extension to your E2 (up to one additional year). This MUST be done in the last month of your contract. |
