I'm curious to know thoughts from others if they're in Korea and are planning to continue teaching after returning home, or if you've been to Korea and gone on to continue teaching.
Has coming here deterred you at all from wanting to continue being a teacher? What subject do you want to teach, and at what level? What are you looking forward to in your future as a teacher?
If you've been, how did your experience in Korea help you as a teacher? How long were you here for? What aspect of your work did you enjoy the most in Korea? -> Did it stay the same when you returned home? |

I planned on teaching high school age students when I returned from Korea. However, I have had the opportunity to teach both elementary age and high school age students in Korea (I have been here for a short time, since January). Based on my short experience, I think I will be going on to teach the elementary age kids when I return, instead of the high school age. |

From becoming a teacher back home, yes. I simply can't see how I could have it any better off back home. |

I plan on doing the Teach for America program when I go back home. Although I haven't yet decided exactly "when I go back home" is going to be. |

I had always considered becoming a high school teacher (English Lit, History and Classical Studies) during my university years, and spending a year here in Korea has confirmed this career path for me. I'll head back to NZ in June to start my Dip. Ed (and the government will pay me to do it! Naa-ee-suh! )

Part of the reason I came to Korea was because it was a way to see if I really enjoyed teaching full time (I'd only ever done a little volunteer work before). So far, I really am. I also really enjoy living in another country, so I can't see going back home to teach anytime soon, if ever. I plan to keep doing TESOL in different countries and maybe try to get into teaching at international schools. |
