Even ones with 48 pages or what not. You travelers out there, or people with other 'reasons', do you stretch your passport out to the full 10 years it is valid (US), or do you get a new one every so often. If so, about how often? Or maybe you just need to wipe the slate clean. Do you just tell the US embassy you lost it. Or just tell them you want a new one? Do they give you 10 to 20 questions, or deny.
Active visas in your old passport easy enough to put in a new one? |

is 48 pages the max you can put in your passport?
I still have my origional but I'm probably going to have to have pages added pretty soon. Seeing as though I'm going back to the US in a year I'll probably wait and have it done then.
I believe you can get a new one and they punch a hole on your old one. Or that's what they used to do. |

yah for the people that just need more 'room' I already did that. They add in an extension and it took 45 minutes. however there are other reasons people may want to get a newer passport, some doing it well under the 10 year span. would like to hear how it went for them, if there is anything against it, etc. |

Having my new married name in a passport was my reason. |

Some people probably get a new one every couple of years and if so, how has it been. Especially for Americans. Completely free to do so, or any problems? ...On top of that, were any visas still valid in your old one easy enough to transfer to your new one, or depends on the country? |

I suspect you have a reason behind your question?
I once ended up with what I believed to be a dodgy stamp in my passport (used a "visa agent" instead of making a visa run) and heard about some people being arrested in that country with similar stamps in their passports.
Went to the US Embassy in Seoul - told them the truth and exactly what had happened. They laughed and no problem, new passport. |
