Hey,
Does anyone know anything about decent fishing spots within a reasonable distance from Seoul or Incheon. I don't want to eat the fish or anything, so I don't care how clean it is, but just a good place where I can go for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon to relax and fish... If anyone knows about this, pls let me know. THanks

ganghwa isn't too terribly far from incheon. i live near there. if you're ever up for taking a trip out this way, let me know. i haven't actually been fishing around here, but it seems to be a fishing hot spot in korea. every other shop is a fishing shop. i bought a rod last year, and i haven't yet gotten around to trying it out. but spring is here now, and i'd really love to get drunk and stare at a bobber... er, i mean fish.

Dude, are you serious? What kind of fishing? Fly fishing? What kind of fish? Are the fish edible?

I miss fishing. Nothing like waking up early, casting a line, and coming home tanked... er... I mean..., with fish.

i don't know if they're edible or not. i'm more into it for the beer drinking and comeradery. any fish i catch is a bonus. that said, i'm totally serious about there being all sorts of fishing shops in the area, as well as welcoming anyone who can be bothered to venture out this far to a fun filled spring day full of fishing excitement.

Thanks for the replies. I wouldn't mind checking out ganghwa sometime. What's the best way of getting there, is it on a subway line? Yeah I'm not too interested in eating what I catch, but who knows... Also, thanks for the link kimchikowboy

subway?? ha! they're lucky to have roads up here. the best way to get out here is to take the bus that goes from shinchon to ganghwa from the shinchon bus terminal. the bus doesn't have a number, but it's the only bus that leaves from that terminal. send me a message if you're coming up this way.

Sure. If you are interested in Gangwando, here is an American who you can hire as a guide. Therefore you don't have to shell out for equipment, and his prices are reasonable. He fishes up there quite a bit and so knows the best spots (which is why you hire a guide).

Nice guy, with a lot of knowledge about outdoors in Korea. I met him yesterday for some bass fishing near Masan.
