| Sorry, I don't actually know that answer to that one. The one thing I do know is that whenever you call someone there, they are out to lunch. |

It seems to me the whole country is 'out to lunch'. |

9 till 5.30 in winter months and 9 till 6 the rest of the year..
Lunch break is from 12 till 1...
My girlfriend works at city hall so these are the hours she works
in for all the talk of incompetance and laziness I hear talked about by ESL foreigners I can assure you that she works harder and puts up with more shit than most people do for their jobs here... |

A friend works in a district office and they had this rather charming fellow come in and protest his parking ticket thusly:
Yeah, if you work the front desk and have to deal with the Korean public, you could imagine the fun you have. Hell, serving the public is not fun anywhere. People don't start off their career in customer service as surly, officious people. They start off friendly and ready to help. But then one ahole after another begins to make you wear a tough skin. Why do someone a favor when it bites you on the ass like that last guy? Why go the extra mile for a customer when he's just going to write a letter of complaint and make stuff up? Why be friendly when some male customer is going to misinterpret and stalk me?
Better to treat every customer like a potential ahole until they make sufficient effort to prove themselves otherwise.
It's a bit like teaching. I understand now why in public school so many of my teachers just seemed to sleep walk their way through their job. You start off with the best intent, you want to open little minds to a big beautiful world, but then you get classrooms full of dull kids who couldn't give a flying donut about what you're saying and, in fact, go out of their way to make your job as miserable as possible. |
