For those of you who have taken part in the nightlife that Itaewon has to offer, what time do you normally arrive, and more importantly, what time do you leave to go home? Way back in the days before that subway line was built, leaving was not a problem. You were going to take a taxi and that was that. I guess now it could be different, though I doubt it. Also, are there any bars/restaurants/clubs that affect your scheduling? |

2 if I'm being good. 4 if I'm not. Any earlier and there's not much point in going down there to begin with. |

About twice a month I find myself happily there. Always leave by one, for there is next day coming. Though that nifty tune on that Late Late Show sometimes pops in my head when I am enjoying that last pint. "tomorrow is just a future yesterday"..... Have stayed later, but then I have to answer to a Higher Power, and She is a vengeful being. |

I haven't been there since just before 9/11, how has it changed?
Is there still a GI curfew in effect?
Has this hurt the bars, made the place cheaper, seedier (hard to believe, after seeing the kettles on a Saturday at 4 AM...)
Anyone remember when the bars used to close at 12 and how the cops would come around and throw people out? Unless the owner bribed them.
And if you tried to get in Hollywood after 12 and looked like a soldier they'd tell you it was closed, even as the bass from the dance music was making your hair bounce around... |

Itaewon's streets were still full of people at 5.30am on Sat/Sun but that's too late for me. 3-4 is when I start to get tired as hell and start to find strangers annoying. |

I remember that!! Back in 96-97 or so, they had that 12 o'clock curfew on the hill. It used to be common practice at East and West to shuffle all the customers up to the second floor storage room right around midnight as the cops made their rounds. Prohibition at its finest!! Imagine 40 or so semi-drunk foreigners all hushed up like Ann Frank's attic. A friend of mine digs around in a box and finds a case of tequila. Yea, that kept us quiet!! Ahh...those were the days!! |
