I don't know how tv stations are run, nor a whole heck of a lot about servers either.

Q: Is that a valid excuse, or is it a BS one?

It smells like a BS one... and reminds me of Ashley Simpson on SNL "The band started playing the wrong song." But I don't pretend to be an expert on this sort of stuff....

CTV glitch led to early ad boasting Juno win for Buble

CTV says a glitch in the control room allowed a commercial to be aired advertising Michael Bublé's Juno for song of the year before the award had been announced.

The West Coast crooner was a big winner during Sunday's Juno gala in Halifax, taking home four awards.

Bublé won the first award of the show, artist of the year. "I'm absolutely blown away," he said in his acceptance speech.

Then right after the presentation, broadcaster CTV aired an ad for his album, It's Time.

In addition to lauding the album, the ad announced that the song Home was the 2006 Juno winner for song of the year.

That category hadn't come up yet at the Juno award ceremony. Bublé did win it — but not for another half-hour.

That raised questions about whether the win had been leaked and why the ad aired when it did.

On Tuesday, CTV took responsibility for the mistake.

"This was a technical error that absolutely and unequivocally lands solely at the feet of CTV," spokesperson Mike Cosentino told Canadian Press. "The file server triggered an incorrect commercial."

Ross Reynolds, chair of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, which runs the Junos, says there was no way for the record company to have known Bublé would win.

Only a handful of people, including the consulting company that tabulates the votes, know the winners in advance, he says.

"Whether they were terribly optimistic or— but it seems strange," Reynolds said in an interview with CBC Radio.

Warner Music, Bublé's record company, produced several versions of its ad featuring Bublé in anticipation of a win in one of the major categories, says Warner's Steve Waxman.

He says he's angry that particular ad ended up on air, before the award was announced.

"Frankly this is embarrassing for us and it's embarrassing to the Junos," he said.

Conspiracy Theory #1: Pamela Anderson is a covert Skull n' Bones agent, tasked with destroying Canadian culture. Experimental magnetic resonating equipment- cushioned by silicon- was concealed somewhere on her person, and it was this equipment which created the 'file server' errors.
