What's the easiest way to get money out of Korea back to Canada, or for that matter, to any international destination?
When in Japan, I used Lloyds TSB and they were sweet: A domestic transfer to them in Japan and then they sent the money to the designated account; no hassle regardless of the country.
There's no Lloyds in Korea, so is there someone else offering the service?
I used the post office, but they aren't the easiest option as they believe that you have to be here five years before you send money out of Korea. I had to get a Korean friend to send it in their name and I don't want to keep hassling them to do it for me. |

Most banks in Korea will tranfer your money to your desired country for you. Just take in your cash and passport with the account details for the Canadian account receiving the money and your set. I use KEB, it costs w18,000 and gets there (in my case NZ) the next day.
Hope that helps.

Swell.
I'll just go into a bank and give it a shot.
I won't go to my bank, however, as they said that they couldn't/wouldn't do it. That's why I went to the post office where they charge W10,000/transfer. However, there's a cap to the amount of one transfer, so I had to split it up, which means that W18,000 would have been cheaper.
Maybe I'm just too far out in the sticks to expect convenient service. |
