I checked Pusanweb.com but couldn't find anthying...

My Korean coteacher searched the internet for me...

I Googled for awhile...

Is this possible... a city of 4 million people... a "Dynamic" city that has no way for English speakers to take classes in the local language... no way???

I remember hearing about classes in and around the PNU area... I heard they were pretty bad, but at least they were something... do they still exist and are we simply looking in the wrong place?

Shocked

There's one place mentioned on pusanweb:

http://pusanweb.com/community/organizations/index.htm (click on Pusan Volunteer Centre)

The one you're talking about near PNU might be that KLIFF place...I'm not sure. If it's different than KLIFF, you may want to see if someone can find some info for you on the KLIFF one(if they're still around).

I think Dong-eui University has intensive classes during winter and summer vacations. They'll cost you and may not fit into your schedule though.

You might also want to look into one of those language exchanges that are advertised on some of the boards. Some Koreans also post for tutoring on some sites.

If I were you, I would try the pusanweb place first as it's free(although it's only available on Saturdays, it might be pretty good - I've taught some great students in the past who are involved in the program). A language exchange might be the next best thing.

I went to KLIFF for about a year and a half, and the volunteer-centre for about 6 months, so can tell you everything you need to know about either.

Virtually everyone who goes to KLIFF comes away loving it and raving about the teacher, myself included, so I doubt that it's KLIFF you heard about (there was another institute in the area (PNU) a while ago that was pretty bad and folded pretty quickly which might have been it). There's also free classes at the university itself, given by very earnest but inexperienced University students.

I went to the volunteer centre for 6 months, and only quit because it's primarily geared to beginners. It's 1 on 1, 2 hours long, and my teacher has become one of my closest friends now. When I went it was next to Busan station, but my friend says now it's next to City Hall.

If you're interested in KLIFF, just go to pusanweb and click on their ad, and/or call the teacher Jenna on 011-9108-6594. If you're interested in the volunteer centre, pm me and I'll pass on my friend's phone number.

There's another volunteer centre in Haeundae that my friend will have the details about.
