Just an off-the-wall question, Have the Stones ever come to Korea? Just in the last week, they've played Tokyo and Shanghai. Wow! I wouldn't mind seeing them here.

I wonder how much the Shanghai tickets went for?

Yeah I saw on CNN where they would be in Shanghai and several songs were not allowed, like "Brown Sugar" ....

I don't know what to think, but that sounds weird to me. Invite a band to perform, but only 'nice' songs.

"Let's spend some time together, now I need you more than ever..."

I liked Mick Jagger's reaction to the Chinese censorship of four songs:

"I'm pleased that the Ministry of Culture is protecting the morals of the expat bankers and their girlfriends that are going to be coming."

99.99% of Koreans don't know what real rock is. Unless the
performer is some cutesy, tootesy androgenous, nonthreatening
powder puff, then Koreans aren't interested. They want "music"
that is similar to this board.

I was there for the Shanghai show on a VIP pass but top tix went for 3000RMB, or 375$ US...

No, the Stones have never played Korea and never will....they tried to book 2 dates on the 40 Licks tour but no luck...the numbers were not there to support even 1 show...

Talked about it with Chuck Leavell (keyboardist) and Ronnie Wood...said that Korea was not even considered...

BUT.....they are discussing another date for Beijing....or you can catch them in Bangkok later this year....

Every band wants to tour Japan. Now that China is such a rising power, a lot of bands want to go over there for the novelty of playing in a Communist country. Korea has missed the boat.

Don't worry though--wait a few weeks and one of the Penetrators will start a thread plugging one of their shows with the subject line "Rolling Stones to tour Korea!"

Strange, eh? Even older Koreans have vaguely heard of Led Zeppelin. That's too bad. Their loss I guess. Most people are very narrow-minded in this country. Just wanna eat kimchi chiggae and listen to Shinwa. Being adventurous means to go and have a sweet potato pizza at Pizza Hut.

I think playing China was a kind of ego trip for the Stones. In rock 'n roll. they're almost as well-known as Coca Cola is among soft drinks. They just want to spead their name among the 2 billion people who live in China. I don't think it is for record sales. The amount of real cds sold in China must be miniscule compared with pirates.

Do you know if the Stones have ever played the 2nd most populous country in the world, India?

I talked with Jim Morrison last night. He said his new gig teaching english in Daegu is pretty nice except for the split shift.

He's out of prison already? I thought he hadn't finished his 50 year sentence for the joint he was caught with at Kimpo Airport. How does he look?

Well, he was in a bit of trouble but it seems that Admiral Yi Sun-sin (of the turtle ship fame) put in a good word and Jim got out.
