Have any of you that couldn't get to immigration in time before Dec. 31st last year extended your E2 visas? Have any of your been refused?

I ask 'cos I got a call on Dec. 30 whilst away skiing from my boss saying 'oh you have to go to immigration tomorrow'. Quite obviously I wasn't able to make it. Contract's finishing soon and I'm considering staying for one more year. So I'm curious to know if there are any others like me who for whatever reason couldn't make that immigration visit deadline and who have extended their E2's, or been refused.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me like you are SOL.

You couldn't bother to go to Immi to get a legal extension? Would love to be a fly on the wall when you explain that to Immi. Um, ah, sir, I was busy
skiing when the time came for me to renew. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Can we just overlook this slight legal infringement. You don't mind that I've been working 4 months without a visa, do you? It's just a silly formality. Hey, man, I was skiing, for god's sake. Let's keep things in perspective. Skiing vs legal right to live in your country. No contest.

Maybe he was talking about the degree confirmation thing, rather than his visa expiring in December?

Same difference. And seriously, there was SO MUCH talk about the confirmation thing weeks before the deadline that there is no excuse.

To be honest, I think you will find they will say nothing and will give you an extension...

I wouldn't be worried about it unlike the other posters scare-mongering you above...

However, i did go to immigration to verify my certificate too last year, just in case

Slightly off topic here... but I DID NOT do the verification thingy in December and I did change schools and received a new E2 at the beginning of March with no problem.

Note here that I got a new E2 and not an extension.

I have heard (but not confirmed) that if you didn't "confirm" in December then you will have to confirm your documents when you want to extend.

A teacher at my school didn't go in to have his degree confirmed. Everyone else at the school made the special 2 hour (each way) trip. The teacher that didn't go simply couldn't be bothered. Anyways, it came round to renewal of contract time- I thought he would be refused- but, no issue. He got a contract extension no questions asked.

I'm a sol? A soldier of legend? A student orientation leader? A system outer loop? A son of lucifer? A statue of limitations? Forgive me, I'm not so up to date with internet huff. I'm clearly beaten 6-love here when it comes to flamebait know-how.

Again, forgive me, I'm not that eloquent when it comes to these silly internet discussion board mouthing-off battles. The insults & witty comebacks fail me. Ya-ta, I meant the confirmation thing. I heard about it from 1 person before the time, and sure enough if the form or whatever arrived at my school I would go. The form never came, I never went. If there were routine cavity searches and you were not conscripted, would you volunteer? I imagine you would wait too. Anyhow. Thanks for the words. I reflected well. Oh oh, almost forgot. I have a visa and have not been here 4 months, what did you call it? a legal infringement? anyway a silly comment sir.

So I guess my original question was answered. Thanks.
