I woke up at 2:30 Sunday. Bad headache, but no hangover. Just waiting for the headache to subside until I'm well enough to ride to the store and buy some coffee.

Here are some comments about last night.

1. Cubanlord arranged a hamburger eating and didn't show up. (EDIT: Cubanlord did show up, but we didn't cross paths.) Flotsam also didn't show up to that, which surprised and disappointed those of us in attendance (Spinoza, blunder1983, Kermo, Dan the Chainsaw Man, Demonicat, Matthew's World). After finally meeting Flotsam later in the evening, though, it appears our disappointment was undue ( Twisted Evil ).

2. Kermo paid 8,000 won for the most distorted attempt at a meal I've ever seen. Let's see.. there were zucchini, onions, and green peppers mixed in some sort of red "Chinese" sauce. Two rolls that still looked a little raw.

3. Went to What the Book and met Chiaa. He seems like a cool guy. Chiaa, if you're reading this, you looked like you had something to say on the tip of your tongue as we were leaving, but didn't know how to say it. I was gonna strike up a conversation with you, but actually couldn't think of anything I wanted to talk about. Maybe I could've started with the comment Matthew's World made on the way to your store: "Maybe I'll start reading." lol!

4. Those of us who went from Nashville's to Bull Dog got lost in Hongdae, which was okay because there's a lot of nice scenery there on a Saturday night. My idea to say hi to every good looking chick was overwhelmingly unsuccessful in terms of entertainment.

5. At one point in the evening, someone overheard me obnoxiously talking about sex, as I tend to do when I drink, and urged me to go ask Kermo if she wanted to sleep with me. I think that was perhaps Eamo? In any event, it didn't happen, and there are no photos of me tied to the bed with leather wrist straps. Sorry. Also, the 15-some I was trying to arrange didn't happen, either. Not sorry about that.

6. After Shooter's, I went to Hongdae park with a few folks, one of whom was a guy who doesn't post here. He is the previous foreign teacher at my current job. He also got so drunk that he threw up a little on the sidewalk, and we had a hard time getting him in a taxi. He called me today and said he lost about 200,000 won somehow (300,000 total, but I assume he spent at least 100). That's a bad situation.

7. I met some 16 year old US Army daughters hanging out in front of a store by the park. I was really curious to hear what their stories were. Like, okay, I've seen Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. That's my impression of Army dads. I talked for a few minutes and walked back over to where the drunk Dave's posters were in the park, told them about a group of 16 year old American girls, and instantly they all swarmed around them. We were all "just curious about their stories".

8. Billybrobby and I stayed in Hongdae park until sunrise, so what was it... 5, maybe 6am? I can't remember. We had been trying to talk to various ladies there for about 2 hours to see if any of them would go out to eat with us. The two of us were surprised at how many chicks there are hanging out alone in a park at 4am after clubbing who won't join two handsome guys at a restaurant. The really funny thing is when we approach two of them, the reaction would be exactly like this, every time: a) act like these two foreigners didn't just surround us. b) pretend like you're angry. c) giggle when they start speaking Korean. d) look cute. e) refuse offers to go out to eat. Good times.

Okay, now here are some photographs. If you want one of yourself removed, just PM me. But, we all made public appearances last night, so I assume we're all cool with people seeing our mugs. If anyone should not be seen, it would be me. I look like the cartoon character on Toothpaste for Dinner.

Here's a great picture of Blunder.

Next up, Eamo and wife.

Here's Kermo with Crazylemongirl.

Here's me being mobbed by Kermo and um, um, New Zealander Britsh poster who I want to call Amy because she looks like someone named Amy I used to work with but I know that's not her real name so please remind me! Look how creepy and big my hand looks. Eww.

This is my friend Charlie (in the blue cardigan) who showed up with the donuts. The funniest part of this picture is the guy on the right trying to look cute instead of going along with the joke.

This one is self-explanatory. I'm gonna use it to blackmail Charlie, who has been dating his gf for 10 years.

Here's a German guy and American girl we met out in Hongdae park as part of the Army kid crew.

Sorry I didn't get too many shots of everyone. I always forget to take photos.

Q.

how did i manage not to meet blunder, billybrobby or qinella?

talked to flotsam for awhile.. also robot (funny guy!).. of course eamo (by the way, i left that CD somewhere last night - thought that might happen!), that waitress with the wig (whats up with that - she wore that a week ago when zyzyfer and i went there too!), kermo (what a cool chick!), crazylemongirl (hardly recognized her - looks great these days!), Amy (very cool chick as well).

I missed the entire park thing.. got too involved with the foosball and dart playing downstairs. Did the guys upstairs on the patio knew that was going on in the basement?

I'm not sure, might've been me, as I did and said lots of dumb crap, such as scaring off your friends when I thought they were commenting on me. Ummm....sorry about that.

I always thought Qinella was a member of the opposite sex.

Wonder why I thought so.

Maybe: Qin-ella.

But it's not like I would've ever thought the postings of mack the knife or of Tiberious aka Sparkes, or even of jajdude were from a woman.

Next you'll be telling me Corporal is not a man. Wink

Yeah, kinda strange but I think there were a few people I didn't meet. I kept getting caught up in interesting conversations, didn't make it enough of a point to introduce myself to everyone.

The girl wearing the wig told me her hair cut is like mine, so that's probably why she wears the wig.

Haha! Never heard that. It must be the chin... gosh, I wish I could look more like Conan, though. Now there's a good lookin guy! Jay looks like a stepdad.

Ah.. is that why they left so quickly? Man, that makes me feel bad. I thought it was just because we were too drunk and obnoxious. I'll have to call him tomorrow and send him your apologies.

Amy is another poster who was there. Captain, what was the gal's name who we were talking to from NZ and UK... That's who I kept wanting to call Amy because she looks like my friend Amy.

Haha. Lots of people have said that. I'm convinced it's the A in Qinella, and Quinn is like a girl's name usually. When I joined, I thought about writing like a woman to increase the ambiguity, but figured it would be too much effort.

Hmmm, I thought it was only I who finds this lad a bit too caustic via the many threads that I've wondered into, all in hopes of learning a bit about the ESL environment in Korea. Nice post by the way, sort of a slice in time over there.

That little chat you had with the waitress was amazing to watch. I thought you were doing rather well, getting her to show you her scalp and everything. Peeking under that wig was kinda erotic.
Frankly, you and Billybrobby's failure to pull is nothing short of shocking. You guys have a combined handsomeness rating that's off the charts. Maybe it was the umbrella behind the ear. Re: that photo-- you certainly have cojones.
p.s. You're right about Conan. I've got a soft spot for him (and the prime minister of Finland too.)

If only you'd listened in Cubanlord, for a while Qin was trying to convince us he was you. He had Kermo going Wink

Good pics, and the umbrella one is an awesome example of why people think you're a female poster!

Oh and I'd just like to restate that Kermo's meal was one of the biggest culinary abortions I've seen in my time here, and this is where weeds and red paste is fine dining. Oh well, it was a mere snip at 9,000won you gotta love sh itaewon

I'm really glad I went. It was an island of naughtiness in an otherwise wholesome weekend Friday night was Everland + small children and Sunday was a nature hike. Can you believe I was scrambling over rocks and up creeks just hours after we were lurching around those bars? I had to change out of the black high heels, though.

Although the "meal" at Nashville's was a disaster (thanks, Dan, for letting me nibble on your leftover fries) in a culinary sense, it provided a soft place for my Long Island Ice Tea to land, and it gave me something to pick at while I chatted with some good company.

Qinella surprised me by being hilarious, Spinoza surprised me by not being Irish, Dan surprised me by letting me eat his fries, Blunder surprised me by being as subtle as a Brit thrown through a window, Matthew surprised me because I haven't seen any of his posts for ages, and Demonicat surprised me by telling me how many calories are in bibimbab *EDIT* and handing me large chunks of chocolate for no good reason even after I told him to shut up about the calories.

It was about 3:30 when I started drinking, and maybe 1:30 that night when I stopped, so those of you who saw me may not have experienced the maturity and self-control I normally exude. For example, sitting in the laps of strange middle-aged men just because they are from Glasgow isn't usually on the agenda. And he wasn't even a Dave's poster.

Thank you, cigarguy, for the stogie. Most gratifying. Thank you, Zyzyfer, for trying to arrange a love-connection for me, and making it all happen *EDIT* "it all" means the bar. Not the love connection. Still working on that one. Thank you, CLG, for the official Queen-of-Dave's nomination. I'll get to work on that crown right away (probably gold glitter, cardboard, glue and macaroni.) Let's start on those King-of-Dave's nominations (RTeacher, no fair nominating yourself.) Thank you to all the girls who showed up, by the way-- it was great meeting you. Thank you to Qinella, Spinoza and blunder for thrilling my friend Clair with your antics on her birthday and trying to find the bar with me without completely breaking down and weeping. Thank you, Eamo, for bring your dog and your gorgeous wife (I notice your hair kinda matches.) Thank you joyful girl for palpably appreciating the fullness and buoyancy of my bosom-- I won't be in my twenties forever and it's important that I share it while I still can.

Good night overall. Sorry I ducked out before the sun came up-- I had had an elegant sufficiency of alcohol, and I had previously arranged to stay the night with someone who really really appreciates sleep. That, and I had to be on a bus to Gangwondo at 7:00 that morning.
