I have little experience in this area but I'm usually chalked full of ideas. If anyone wants to collaborate, hit me up.

A saying in Los Angeles goes like this: what's the fastest way to tell someone's a schmuck? He says "I'm a screenwriter."

Yeah...Seoul is full of people "working" on screenplays, books, documentaries, etc. How much work they actually do is suspect. The only difference between here and LA is that they teach english instead of waiting tables.

In defense of a few, I do know some guys who have actually penned one and are in the process of shooting. The big difference is, they don't tell anyone they're doing it.

Ha ha ha Ya-Ya and Seoulsucker ... you guys really make me laugh. Dude puts an ad up wanting to collaborate with someone, and you guys have to slam him. Sorry, Andy, but it just doesn't get any better. I play in The Penetrators, and every time we post ads for our gigs we always get tagged by losers like these. Tell you what, boys, we're playing this weekend at Woodstock in Itaewon - why don't you come down, kiss our rock star asses, and tell us who YOU are? Nice guns in your avatar, dude. Making up for something?

Hostile message boards are a dime a dozen on the net. However, it is both sad and amusing that this board is now joining their ranks. With all its pretence to cultural sensitivity, this board cannot seriously afford to gain a (much deserved) reputation for newbie-bashing, kick-the-victim, or hit-the-nail-that-sticks-out. If a poster is intolerant of screenwriters just because they put their hand up and say that they are screenwriters, then any pretense to cultural tolerance that poster may have isn't worth folding into one's hwajangsil pack.

ESL Cafe is slowly sinking into gutter-net commonality, except it lacks the usual "just-for-laughs" excuse that lets other boards off the hook. It is becoming the online version of Jerry Springer, but with only more hypocrisy - and that's really saying something.

Okay Mick Jagger...you deserve credit for at least being out there and doing something instead of just talking about it. You've got a popular band in Seoul, but "Rock Star"? That might be pushing it a bit.

And I didn't really slam the guy...just mentioned that there is a community of "screenwriters" here who never actually do anything.

As far as the guns in my avatar, I guess I'm just making up for the fact that I miss my twin Sig Sauer P-226 X-Fives I had to leave behind at home. Some days I really miss them.

By the way, what in God's green goodness does screenwriting have to do with cultural sensitivity?

No, Ya-Ya called him a schmuck, and YOU ... like so many losers before you (Swiss James, Boolsaju, Booby Brobby and bald guys in suspenders), thought it would be manly to be the second man in. And we are the MOST popular band in a city that prefers deeeee jays and plug-and-play punk-indie acts who can't hold their guitars for more than 30 minutes to real rock n'roll, and that deserves MORE than credit. You MISS your guns you HAD to leave at home? Is that a threat? Are you threatening me? Well, you can't do that, but you CAN kiss my rock star ass!!! See you at Woodstock.

Well, what bands HAVE you heard of, Jinju? Are you SURE you should even be entering this conversation? "Quick, someone put this guy back on his medicine" ... fantastic, Ya Ya. You clearly have a right to call out inferior screenwriting talent where you see it.

It's this sort of mentality that's keeping me on my side of the fence.

I was referring to a different poster in regards to screenwriting. You couldn't make me upset if you tried, Jinju. The only way you could hurt my ego would be to form a band that's BETTER than we are - I've been saying the same thing for the past 6 months to all our critics here in Seoul, but better bands never seem to happen ... funny, that.
