There is one guy, I cant think of his name or his show though. But you guys probably know who he is. He always does this over the top british posh accent. Hes a skinny, ugly, annoying guy.

Also, though not an English teacher, theres that German teacher. She has to be the ugliest thing I have ever seen on TV.

What do you guys think? Who are the most annoying teachers on TV?

I can't stand that British guy either. He's been doing his stupid schtick for years. The worst part? Whenever he comes on TV my 3 year old son points to him and says "Daddy!". Shocked

I HATE HIM. I just have this strong reaction to seeing his stupid face and hearing that STUPID voice. What is his name?

Isaac is ok. Dont mind him. They did that TOEIC listening show with whats her name and Ted. I liked Isaac because at least he was interesting. That Ted guy was just so booooooooooring, stiff and boooooooooooooring.

The biggest is Issac Durst. Not sure if its the same guy you're talking of. I didn't think he was british. But he's tall, lanky, big nose.

He parades around like a monkey for the Koreans, doing lame shtick that even Jerry Lewis would be ashamed of.

I hate all the women who do the English shows too. They all have these incredibly annoying HIGH-PITCHED voices. And the problem is THEY ARE EVERYWHERE. Those English Muppets on TV all do like 3-4 different shows.

The only guy I like is Brian Rhee and he's a gyopo.

I was offered the chance to be on TV in Korea. But I said no, I'm not interested in looking like a monkey. My pride is worth more than they could pay me.

Well, there must be some really erudite, handsome models of ESL out there who aren't on TV! Look, I laugh at the "experts" on TV, too, but how can you really criticize them? Sounds like a lot of sour grapes to me....

What about that chubby checker Korean American woman - always wears a berret - very enthusiastic, very nasal.
She, I believe, is a fine human being, but when I watch her show my ears begin to bleed.

I haven't seen enough of the English teachers on TV to know them by name but I do know that a lot of the scripts that make it on the air seem to have been written by non-native speakers.

Not too long ago, my former linguistics professor visited Korea to upervise some interns here. Through a connection, she had the good fortune to go and see one of the English shows get made. When we talked she was APPALLED at the profundity of errors that were in the scripts. I think it says a lot about Korean society: they cannot give up control even if it means a better product.

Anyway, whenever I turn on one of these programs, it always seems like stagnant, context deficient crap that's being purveyed.

On one of the christian cable networks there are a couple of English teachers who sit in high-back chairs and move and talk as if they were animatronic robots from some theme park. Very creepy. Shocked

If the skinny British guy you are talking about is "Matthew", does a daily bit on the children's show Ding Dong Dang Yu chi won, I have to differ. He may be annoying to you, and other like minded adults, but he is excellent at what he does. I have seen numerous tots become glued to the TV when he appears and remain mesmerized until he's finished. Over the top, yes. But that's what the job calls for. Bozo the Clown, Krusty the Klown, all the big stars with little kids...he's a pro, I say, and keep up the good work.

isaac durst IS annoying .....he's like an oversugared elf on a grammar mission, but that buck toothed kyopo bird is much worse, elizabeth mcdonald or something...shes got that permanent grimace that looks like she s had some dodgy botox treatment , makes me want to throw up.
she acts like one of those denture -special miss world contestants....."So , elizabeth whats yoooour grammarrr tip this week ? " "Uhhhh... i just wanna work with disadvantaged kids and hope for world peace."

the person on about the british guy, he s called matthew , you think he's trying to sound posh , but to me he's trying to put on a false 'meegook accent'..
hes the most annoying little t**t in seoul. would you let your kids near him ??? er..no thanks.
i saw him coming out of that tacky 'western breakfast' bar in itaewon right on the corner when you turn up toward the street leading to the hill once, i wish i d popped him one.
oh yeah , and that fat kyopo bird with the beret ......she is FUNNY...... i say let her have her own show , where she gets her kit off and dances in a tallanjujom with some p***ssed up ajjossis. The show could be called "mr kim sure digs a quaterpounder with extra cheese ".

Thats the skinny puke.Matthew. He is a waste of space. The only person who brings out the kind of hatred fromme is Bush and Hitler.

this goes out to 'here it is ':
'here it is ' , acting like a nonce just to get yourself acclaim in a country no one west of essex has ever heard of , and thus the label 'big in korea ' is not one of lifes major aims surely ? Thats something to cringe about in the world of acting , ne c est pas?
Philip Schofield is "good at what he does' , ie a professional presenting on british TV.
Acting like an american when you re an englishman, pandering to korean stereotypes of the 'fun' waegookin, and posing as a young learners teacher by acting like you're timmy mallett , when you dont know an RSA CELTA from Glasgow Celtic does not a 'professional' make .
Wake up and book yersel a ticket back to blighty - you ve been in the 'killbrain - box ' ( seoul) too long. Smile nasty.
