|
|
I just got back to Korea tonight and have decided that I need a DVD player this time around. I went to E-Mart, since it's next to my apatuh, and the cheapest one is 130,000 won. I assume it's not region-free.
Sooooo... I'm thinking about heading to the Yongsan market soon. Anyoen know if it's possible to find a region-free DVD player there? If so, or if not, are there any specific models anyone can recommend?
Thanks,

If you know the model number of the player and there is a remote control hack you should be able to find it here. search for only the model number because sometimes the same player is sold by different companies. |

I went with a friend to Yongsan once with her DVD in arms. She brought it to some a/s place where they'd make it region free. So you might be able to get any DVD player jury rigged after the fact. |

GSestore.co.kr sells some really DVD-Divx players that are region free for about 70000 won. |

That's exactly what I found. Unfortuantely, you aren't going to get any a name-brand DVD player sold new that is region-free, unless it has been opened up and modded by someone else.
The big companies have certain standards and laws they try to follow, for legal reasons or whatever.
Really, it's about all made in China these days, anwyay. I've had a no-name Chinese DVD player for several years now, and it still works fine with regular use. My bf says the black levels aren't that great, but the color seems fine otherwise, and the audio is really great. |

There is a great deal of hit-n-miss w Chinese no-names - mine lasted barely 4 months - but at $ 35 i guess i cant whine too much.
From prior posts it seems some name-brands can be DIY modded, so..........the hunt goes on. Till then its DVD on PC |

Is that another mystery name? Carrefour has one for about the same; just stereo - no 5.1 - who know about the quality[/quote] |
