Does anyone know of any classes or clubs where SLR photography is taught or discussed in English?

Just blew a wad of cash on a camera that I have little idea how to use outside of manual mode. Would love to remedy that.

What camera did you buy? What lens/lenses do you have?

Jinju..

The camera is a Canon 350D Rebel (actually a Kiss N made in Japan) and stupidly I bought a 28-300 (Tamron) as my first lens so this weekend I have to but something shorter for wide angle shots. Any suggestions for a beginner.. something not tooo expensive but with nice clarity?

Your gallery is amazing. I started my own gallery last week with shots from my powershot 400. I hope to add lots of shots, and hopefully better ones with the Rebel. But for now:

Kayakorea:

I had a look though your galleries and they are quite good.

A reasonably priced WA lens from Canon is this one:

Canon EF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

I had that one for a while and then upgraded to this one:

Canon EF 17-40 f/4L USM

The image quality, colour saturation and sharpness aren't really comparable b/t the two, but for a starter WA the first lens ain't too shabby stopped down. The first lens is actually 1/2 stop faster at the wide end, which can be okay for handholding environmental portraits, say, but I found it to be a bit dull.

I can't comment on any Tamron or Sigma WA lenses, but maybe Jinju knows more about them.
