I just spoke with my parents and aparantley the economy in Canada is going insane.
Any who they said that Calgary and every other city is going nuts. There are jobs everywhere. My mother said that Tim Hortins is paying about 16 dollars an hour in Calgary. |

It is pretty crazy here. My husband's former co-worker turned down the IT company's health insurance, because Timmy's was better.
There are help wanted signs everywhere in the service industry. They had a segment on the news about some restaurants offering $500 signing bonuses and trips to Mexico in order to attract staff. The downside for people moving here is that housing prices are also through the roof. The value of our modest house has practically doubled in 3 years. It went up 30 percent last year alone. |

Service industry.
Which means that as soon as the economy takes an even slight downturn -- or as soon as the Bank of Canada raises interest rates even slightly, because NOOOOO...we would never want to have full employment now, would we -- anyone taking those service industry jobs will get their layoff/eff off notices lickety-split.
Thanks, but no thanks. |
