...they're in a cage, and the person was nice enough, I suppose, to leave bedding and some water in the water bottle for them. They're cute, but I can't care for them.
Any takers in Ilsan? I'm opposite "La Festa."
Cheers. |

For those who don't know Ilsan or "La Festa"--I'm close to Jeongbalsan station the orange line, and a 1000 line bus stop. |

Why not try taking them to a pet store? If they are cute, the pet store might want to sell them .... cage and all.
I'd take them but they are nocturnal and they'll keep me up at night in my apartment. I could leave them in my office but I have to go to Europe this summer for two months and then I'd have to find someone to take care of them. |

Good idea, I'll definately consider it. I'd rather they go to a loving home straight away than back to a pet store where they could be subject to the same sort of "mommy I want one", "mommy, I can't take care of them" stuff that they've more than likely been through already. |

Something else just came to mind. Do you work in a hagwon with children? Maybe they will let you keep them there and use them for your lessons. If not at your hagwon, maybe there's another hagwon out there that might go for this idea. This is something that would work for kindergarden to get the kids to talk. Many years ago, I worked at a YMCA camp with children where I was in charge of the farm animals and pets as well as the related lessons for the campers. This was so much fun! Using animals in education works wonders for getting kids motivated to speak, learn and overcome their fears. |

what a great idea, then maybe I can trade with others for weekend care... hmm... maybe.
As it turns out, there is a third little guy, who's been hidding under the bedding and it appears as though the other two had badly beaten him up; he's scratched up and missing an eye. I don't think I can take that one into the hogwan, unfortunately. I'm thinking about maybe just letting them loose, because a pet store probably isn't going to take them with the bruised up one. Damn it! |

OMG, this is terrible. I'm in Japan now and can't take in any animals anytime soon, but maybe the Korea Animal Protection Society or Arumpoom could help?

Please don't just let them loose -- they're domesticated and probably won't be able to survive. And it sounds as if the sick one really needs to go to a vet. Good luck -- I really hope everything works out for the poor little things. |

The gerbils don't need anyone to take care of them over the weekend. Just make sure they have enough water and food and they'll be just fine.
As for the third one... well sometimes gerbils will fight and that's why they have to be separated. Three gerbils for one small cage is too many. How on earth did that gerbil get in your apartment? Something doesn't make sense here.
Your story is beginning to sound a little fishy to me. You letting the two go loose is worse than what the person did by putting them out with the trash. |

You could also post your quandry in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum--I'm almost certain sooner or later someone will take them off your hands. If I was in Korea I'd take them. Sounds like they need a bigger cage.
Don't let them loose--they'll starve to death. |

Lemonade--All I did was think about letting them loose, I didn't do it--I thought for a second that it might be an option for them seeing as how they probably won't be taken in by a pet store. The third little guy came out from underneath the bedding (the cage has about 2 or 3 inches of bedding in it, and he's less than half the size of the others.)
Update:
So far I've written to the links that red dog sent and hopefully I'll get a response. If anyone else knows any phone numbers or websites for agencies, please let me know. Thanks for all the helpful inquiries. |
