My husband and I already signed all the legal papers and we are married under Korean law. However, we want to have a small ceremony where our friends and coworkers can witness us saying the vows. Our problem is that we don't know where to find someone who will preside over the wedding. We don't want it to be a priest (we are having a church wedding when we go back to the States.)
I'm willing to pay the person who does it, but I'm not sure where I can find someone in Korea. Any suggestions? ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! |

Usually, the Wedding Hall or venue where you are getting married will hire the 'speaker' and put his fee on your bill. Or you can personally give him around 100,000 in an envelope on the day.
Most couples don't even know who he is until he actually starts speaking. He just waffles generally and doesn't need to know anything about you. And anyway, no one listens to him. His job is quite sad when you think about it.
I really recommend Namsan Yeasulwon for a wedding venue. It's an outside garden. Very beautiful, quiet and much more pleasant than a wedding hall cattle market. I got married there last year. |

Korean weddings generally aren't done by a minister, not even weddings between religious people. It's most common to get an adult that both the people getting married know. Often university professors are asked. |

I'll do it. I'd be glad to officiate your wedding. Considering that the rules seem to be that you don't know me and that I be boring, I can do that.
Or get someone who can speak another language than English or Korean to do it. That way, instead of just you being bored, everyone will be bored and have no idea what is being said. I almost fell asleep in mine, I was so bored. |

We already have a venue, we just need a person to officiate. I asked my Korean boss, but he said he's too young to do it. (Although my supervisor said it might just be part of the tradition of refusal the first time someone asks for an honor like this...)
Anyone out there ever officiate a wedding? |
