DO I need a SEALED copy of my DEGREE to get an F2 visa???
I know I need a SEALED copy of my university TRANSCRIPTS to get an F2 visa. But do I need a sealed copy of my university DEGREE to get an F2.
I have:
a) original (unsealed) copies of BOTH my university TRANSCRIPTS and DEGREE.
b) photocopies of my DEGREE that are stamped/notarised by the Korean Embassy in my country.
c) University TRANSCRIPTS in a sealed envelope. This envelope has my university logo, name & address on the front. But it does not have a fancy seal on the back flap. It has just been sealed by licking down the flap.
Will Immigration in Seoul accept this as a 'sealed' envelope.
Would appreciate anyone's comments and experiences. It has been a major hassle getting these documents so far. |

Shootin a bit hight there eh partner?. And F2? I think you mean E2, which is for teaching. F2 is a residency via, you get that when you get married and they dont care about your degree as its not a requirement.
No, you dont need a sealed degree. What is a seald degree anyway? You need a degree and sealed transcripts. |

the sealed transcripts MUST have a university seal over the flap, it CAN'T be just an unopened transcript. they will not accept it, make sure that you have your sealed transcript with the unversity seal before you come as if you try to courier them over the courier companies often open them (happened to me three times in a row) |

|
|
I just heard from a recruiter this week that immigration has been rejecting everybody with sealed transcripts. Immigration is now requiring sealed transcripts with an embossed seal of the university as part of the seal. On top of this seal a signature of the same person who signs the transcript is required.
I also heard from a foreigner who planned to get another job here, and his sealed transcripts were considered useless because of this new law.
Everyone else is being rejected. This is a new thing as of this past week.
Can anybody verify this to be untrue?
I also heard that letters of release are no longer valid - your current employer must come with you into immigration to release you. |

Vietman, Uncle Ho Chi suggests that you try someone who is NOT a recruiter just to see if you get a different answer. Try submitting an application directly to a big hagwon chain [without a recruiter intermediary] and see if they give you the same story.
I wonder if perhaps different standards are applied to different ESL teachers. For example, maybe those who will work for a big hagwon chain won't really have this problem, whereas maybe those who will work for public schools do... |

Vietnam has not been around long, and barely has any posts until this past week.
Usually this is a sign of someone using a sock and trying to stir up trash.
You don't need a sealed degree. You must have sealed transcripts, however, sent directly from your university to your boss. These must remain unopened until immigration opens them. So tell your boss not to open them! |

Surely your boss should know this already? I fully understand this, and am yet to enter Korea. |

Do you have to send your degree because there is no way. I had to have my name corrected on my degree and oh my god it took a year to complete. If the Certified, notarized copy from the Korean Embassy doesnt do it then I am not going. BB |

She's right. Remind them obsessively. A teacher who used to be here with the nickname of Icognito stood there and watched as he handed the transcripts (which took like a month and required many hoops) to his director, and he/she opened them like a reflex. He was like, OH MY GAWD!!!! DO YOU JUST REALIZE WHAT YOU'VE DONE!?!?
And this person had been told not to open them.
He's in Saudi now.
When I had my interview here, they called this office lady in to talk to me about my transcripts. I looked her dead in the face, instilling the fear of God, and said, "NO NOT OPEN THEM, or I won't be able to work here!" I'm sure I didn't score any points with her, but I got the message across. |
