Most contracts I've seen stipulate one hour as 40-50 minutes. Teaching 6 classes a day, at, let's say 50 minutes = 1 hour, thats 25 teaching hours a week. I'm trying to negotiate a raise with my boss, but as it is right now, 60 minutes = 1 hour, so I'm teaching 30 hours a week. We have virtually no break between classes (if you want to count 3 minutes, with kids running all over the place, asking questions, and the next class coming into the classroom). What monthly salary would you expect with 30 hours of teaching a week?
(please don't ask about what's in the contract) |

I say that you should get a minimum of 2.2 mil for 25 fifty minute classes a week.
If you are teaching 30 fifty minute classes a week I would want 2.6 mil a month.
That is the range you should be shooting for! |

the schedule as it is right now, is 7.5 hours/day, M W F, 90 minutes per class, with no breaks. i'll usually let the class out about 3 minutes early, but like i said, im making photo copies during that time, answering questions, etc...before going back to the classroom and starting the next class.
T and TH are more relaxed, with 1 hour breaks between each class....but then again, i don't have that many classes on those 2 days because I have close to 23 teaching hours on MWF. |

whenever you sign an agreement/contract you need to have your working hours clearly stated..if you are (sorry about this) 'stupid' enough to sign a bad contract then you deserve the hell that you will be enduring for the next 12 months.
If more people checked out Dave's and refused to put up with crap contracts the problem would solve itself. As long as there are people willing to sign crapola hogwan owners will continue to put out those crapola contracts! |

| i'm not complaining about the contract at all, it was my decision to sign it, and i realize that. im just trying to get a figure for what the hours are worth while trying to negotiate a raise. i asked you not to bring up the contract issue |
